"A Sea of Orange"
This photo was taken before the Clemson vs. Florida State, nationally televised, football game on Labor Day night, 2007. The photo shows Memorial Stadium (Death Valley) shrouded in orange as the Tigers run down the hill during "the most exciting 25 seconds in all of college football." You can see the band tunnel for the players to run through, the cheerleaders with the huge Clemson Tigers flag and the C-L-E-M-S-O-N flags, the players gathering near the bench at the 50 yard line, and the balloons rising above the sell-out crowd - all while the world watches the only game on TV on during the nationally-televised broadcast on Labor Day night, 2007.
After 9-11, security issues mandate a "no-fly zone" around major sporting events. This is why you only see the airplane advertising banners flying over during pre-game. The air must be clear two hours before the game starts. In order to fly over the stadium we had to obtain permission from the CU Police Department, the CU Athletic Department, SLED, the TSA, AND the FAA.
Other photos taken that night include: "Night in the Valley" and "Tiger Band Spells out Tigers"
