During the Golden Age of Piracy, Edward Teach, self-named "Blackbeard", became the most notorious of all the pirates of the Caribbean. Born to a respectable family in Bristol, England, Blackbeard served as a privateer during Queen Anne's War. He then trained under Pirate Captain Benjamin Hornigold. A master of psychology, Blackbeard created an image of fear and imtimidation by wearing a huge, coarse, coal-black beard. He was a tall, robust man with broad shoulders. He was always the first to board a targeted vessel.
He had no equal.
